I woke up with 2 of my 3, gushing with love and pride as they presented me with cards, plants, and art. Even though it was 6:30, and my eyes weren't quite ready to flutter open, they quickly re-routed and squinted with a smile.
The best gift is them...loving me.
Oscar, at the tender age of 6, blurted, "MOM! You are the BEST mom and you're so beautiful..." I teared up and he asked why I was sad. I quickly explained my tears were of grateful nature and how much I loved their sentiment and effort in their presents for me. He smiled, boastfully, and proclaimed, "today is your day and we are going to take care of you, mommy".
The relationship between a mother and her children is sacred and untouchable. It's comfortable and raw...it's not a Disneyland glamorous show. It's real. It's not a "nine to five" job, it's a "from when I wake to when I rest" job. It's unconditional love, trust, friendship, and much more. It's a big piece of me in all of them. A piece of my heart and soul and a bond from belly to life.
Many say it's a "thankless job" but a MOM would never say that...the thank is watching them grow every single day and seeing your heart shine in theirs.
Here's to a few of my favorite moms. Thank you for all that you do for me...your heart is big and pure and you're a fantastic lady.
